Burning Water: A Daggerheart Adventure in the Witherwild
The Moonlight Bastion is behind you. The ravens stopped going south weeks ago. Somewhere down the coast, a town called Emvara is waiting — silent, ash-covered, and completely still.
Burning Water is a Daggerheart-compatible adventure for level 2 characters, set in the unruly, spirit-riddled expanse of the Witherwild. Part nautical tension, part underground exploration, part assassination attempt, this flexible 20+ page scenario gives the party two routes south and a very good reason to watch their backs on both of them.
Perfect for groups who love meaningful moral dilemmas, atmospheric travel, and the specific discomfort of realizing someone on the boat is not who they claim to be, this adventure includes:
- Two fully realised route choices — the fire-powered Haven boat or the ancient Wickling smuggler caves — each with distinct encounters and atmosphere
- The fire cats: a moral question with no clean answer, locked in an engine room below deck
- A professional assassin and her apprentices, positioned and patient, waiting for the right moment on both routes
- Crowhaven, an optional waystation of raven-keeping Wicklings who read every message that passes through their birds
- Cave hazards, a curious shark, and a stretch of open coast that arrives exactly as wrong as the ravens warned
- An optional survivor NPC at the ash border who knows what Emvara was and what it became
- Collaborative worldbuilding prompts throughout, and a full interrogation framework for getting the truth out of people who were paid not to give it
This isn't a script. It's two roads to the same destination, and something is waiting at both of them.
The town on the charts should be occupied. It isn't.
