High Water: A Daggerheart Adventure in the Witherwild
The city is gone. The river is very full. And somewhere south, past two days of wilderness that has no interest in letting you through, a lighthouse burns on a cliff that has been keeping people alive for five hundred years.
High Water is a Daggerheart-compatible adventure for level 2 characters, set in the unruly, spirit-riddled expanse of the Witherwild. Part survival journey, part moral reckoning, this flexible 20+ page scenario drops the party into the aftermath of catastrophe and asks a simple question: what are you willing to do to reach safety when the road doesn't exist?
Perfect for groups who love meaningful choices, evocative wilderness travel, and the specific tension of arriving somewhere as a stranger carrying more trouble than you admit, this adventure includes:
- A complete 5-part arc, from a flooded city's wreckage to the cloud-cut ridgeline above the canopy and down into the sheltered walls of the Moonlight Bastion
- Two fully realised route choices — the treacherous Cliffside Ascent or the insect-haunted Buzzing Swamp — each with distinct encounters and environmental features
- A high-ridge confrontation with a territorial Mountain Eagle, designed for creative problem-solving as much as combat
- The Moonlight Bastion: a fully detailed Haven medical camp operating on five centuries of Ordered Compassion, with memorable NPCs, political tension, and secrets that point toward the south coast
- Collaborative worldbuilding prompts throughout, inviting each player to shape the forest, the catfolk at the river, and what the Witherwild remembers about their passage
- Optional Withered Dire Wolf encounter and full Witherwild travel atmosphere drawn from the campaign's lore
- A clean handoff into the next adventure, with two departure routes already laid out at the Bastion's harbor
This isn't a script. It's a roadmap through a forest that changes based on who walks it. The mountain is harder than it looks, the swamp is worse than it sounds, and the lighthouse at the end of it all belongs to someone who has been watching this part of the coast for longer than Haven has existed.
The ravens stopped going south a few weeks ago. You are going anyway.
